What To Expect At Explore…

At Explore you will find an enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff who are looking forward to starting your camper’s summer off with a ton of excitement, creativity and fun! Together we will engage in innovative science experiments, travel all over the world to learn about different cultures and people, meet new friends, play games, spend time exploring the outdoors, do arts and crafts and most importantly have an amazing summer experience!

At Explore, we maintain a camper to Instructor ratio 7:1 and will base our unique programming and activities on the Ontario Curriculum. Our Instructor team is comprised of enthusiastic Queen’s undergraduate students who develop varying programs for camp each week, so campers who want to join us for more than one session will have an amazing, unique experience each time!

Explore Junior

Explore Juniors have the chance to see the world like never before! Each week there will be a unique program where we explore different themes ranging from pollution to wildlife to the wonders of the world! Our learning sessions at camp are based on the Ontario Curriculum so campers will be learning while having fun! Each day will be an adventure as campers can expect to be outdoors playing games and participating in camp activities. Inside, where it is air conditioned, campers get to create amazing artwork and crafts, and participate in awesome

experiments and fantastic team challenges! Each week we will also be going on a field trip! This interactive, hands-on camp is an adventure you don’t want to miss!

Explore Senior

Explore Senior is awesome for campers who want to be outdoors, doing exciting experiments, meeting new friends and participating in our own version of “The Amazing Race!” Campers will have the chance to use GPS units, explore local habitats, go on amazing field trips and discover so much more about the world we live in! With team-oriented activities and challenges, everyday is an adventure! Each day teams will participate in different games, and challenges, all the while learning about geography and the diverse world we live in

Explore Junior (SK – grade 3)

July 9 - 13 - Backyard Biodiversity

  • Join us on an adventure to discover the plant and animal wildlife that lives in our backyards and on Queen’s campus! This week we will explore animals from squirrels to honeybees and learn about their importance in our world, the resources they need to survive ways we can protect them!

July 16-20 - Up, Up and Away!

  • This week is going to be out of this world! Going beyond the stars we will learn all about moons, planets and all things outer space! Grab your spacesuit and let’s blast off!

July 30-Aug 3 - Kingston Explorers

  • This week we will be exploring close to home, learning all about our Kingston community! This week we will learn all about the important jobs done in our community by firefighters, teachers, police officers, doctors, construction workers and more!

August 13-17 - Around the World in 5 days

  • Grab your passport and away we go! We are off to explore the wonders of the World on a whirlwind tour of countries in 5 continents – South America, Africa, Europe, Asia and Antarctica! This week we will explore the different cultures, foods, celebrations and music that is sure spark the travel bug in anyone!

August 20-24 - Land Before Time

  • This week we are going wayyyy back to a time when dinosaurs ruled the Earth! This week as archeologists, we will be exploring dinosaurs, fossils and natural disasters! Grab your hammer, chisel and brush – let’s get digging!

Explore Senior (grades 4 - 8)

July 23-27 - Myths and Legends

  • Castles, pyramids and Greek Gods – oh my! This week Explore Camp steps back in time to learn about ancient civilizations! We will explore the lives of people in Medieval Times, Ancient Greece and Egypt, Vikings and more! To the time machine!

*August 7-10 - Deep Blue (4 day week)

  • Get ready to deep dive as we explore the wonderful world of water! Discover the animals that call water home along with the many ways human use it every day! ‘Water you’ waiting f or?

Additional Information

  • Total cost per week is $210 (*4 day holiday week, cost is $170).
  • Camp hours are from 9am-4pm, based in Mackintosh-Corry Hall on Queen's Campus.
  • Early care and after care hours beginning at 8am and going until 5pm are available upon request for an additional $35.
  • Each week we will be going on a Field Trip(s) that will complement our camp program!
  • Children with Special Needs may request to have a one-on-one Special Needs Instructor

A camper is registered for a session when payment in full has been made
The administration fee is $50 Prior to June 15, payment is available for refund (less administration fee) upon cancellation. For cancelation on/after June 15, all payment are non-refundable.
No refund will be made for a camper who withdraws at any time after the start of their registered session. There is no reduction of fees for late arrival or early departure, nor is there a refund if a camper is required to leave per request by the management of Explore Camp.
