Event description

Description

The New Jersey Historic Trust encourages potential applicants and preservation professionals to attend this free workshop for the 2018 Preserve New Jersey Historic Preservation Fund grant round.

The workshop will run from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at the Rutgers EcoComplex. In addition to reviewing the 2018 grant guidelines and application, special topics will include planning for archaeology at your site, a review of the standards for preservation planning documents and recommendations for site interpretation. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.

About the 2018 Preserve NJ grants:

  • The 2018 grant round will accept applications for Historic Site Management (HSM) grants. HSM grants assist historic site stewards with planning for the preservation and long-term use of historic properties, bringing professional expertise to the project team, and addressing maintenance, stewardship, and visitor needs for each unique historic resource.

  • Eligible applicants are 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations and entities of county or municipal government.

  • All applicant properties must be listed or certified eligible for listing on the New Jersey Register of Historic Places by August 1, 2018 to be considered for grant funds in this round.

  • HSM applicants may apply for grants of $5,000 to $50,000, and the match required is 3:1 (for every $3 in grant request, a match of $1 is required).

  • No “match expended” (work that is completed prior to the date of application), will be eligible in the 2018 grant round. Applications will only be accepted for work that is proposed for after the date of application.

  • Disaster planning has been added as an eligible activity in the 2018 grant round.
