2018 Featured Training

·         Ch. (Col) Ken Parris, former Lt. Oakland PD: Active Shooter – with recent shooting involving churches around the country, this is an important review. ,

·         Angel Tucker, Author and Trainer, Personality trainin: Best Selling Author of the book titled “Stop Squatting with Your Spurs On!” The power to read people, get what you want, and communicate without pain! This book is designed to give the reader the power to read personality types in 60 seconds or less to create win/win situations. Angel’s most recent writings include a children’s book titled “Four Pals and Their Positive Affirmations” and a non-fiction book titled “Mastering The Art of Success”. She has also created many helpful audio/video products as well as quick reference charts. Angel is married to a Colonel in the United States Air Force who is currently serving our Country as a Professor at San Diego State University.  

·         Ch. Jeff Lewis, Author and Retired SEAL: Moral Injury from a spiritual perspective. This critically important work recognizes that moral injuries are spiritual in nature and thus require spiritual interventions. It also recognizes the unique tools that chaplains with a sound understanding of military culture and mental health issues bring to the healing journey. Who can better speak to the spiritual aspects of moral injuries than a Navy SEAL and chaplain?

·         Dr. Debra Hopper, a licensed clinical psychologist, Chair of the Disaster Psychology Committee of the San Diego Psychological Association, and a Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Volunteer since 2001: Phases of Disaster Response Cycle and how they impact responders (chaplains, etc.) who are offering relief to survivors.; Fostering Resilience-- Personal (and family) disaster preparedness, professional disaster preparedness; Compassion Fatigue and related Self Care Topics - She will highlight research since 9/11 specifically on Chaplains, and the differences between compassion fatigue, compassion satisfaction, and burn out. In addition, She will discuss other concepts, techniques and experiential tools (spirituality, happiness research, mindfulness) that can address professionals successfully "running the marathon" of life and a career, instead of collapsing after a sprin

The Future of the CAP Chaplain Corps

Our Chief of Chaplains, Ch, Col Charlie Sattgast, will join us with an update on the progress that has happened over the past year and talk about the next phase of our journey as a CAP Chaplain Corps.  Pacifc Region Commander Jon Stokes will join us on Thursday.

Registration for the 2018 Chaplain Staff College is $75.00 per person*, which includes a dinner session on Monday night, banquet meal, refreshments all week, and all staff college sessions. Registration closes on April 1.
