W-3008 Multistate Research Project: Integrated Onion Pest and Disease Management Annual Meeting

Tuesday, November 13th – 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (lunch included)

This meeting is a separate registration from the PNVA Annual Meeting

The W-3008 multi-state project consists of a group of scientists and allied industry members from across the USA that meet annually to discuss work that is addressing issues impacting onion production across the United States. The objectives of this group areto:

1)      Evaluate onion germplasm for resistance to pathogens and insect/mite pests.

2)      Investigate the biology, ecology and management of onion thrips and other pests.

3)      Investigate the biology, epidemiology and management of onion plant pathogens.

4)      Facilitate discussionsamong W3008 participants and onion industry stakeholders that advance onion pest and disease management.

Participants include public and private researchers, extension professionals, onion growers, consultants, and seed industry personnel throughout the USA who have formed productive collaborations and are leaders in onion production, storage, breeding, horticulture, entomology, plant pathology, virology and microbiology. Many of the problems affecting onion production occur in multiple regions of the USA, so this project brings together those with similar interests in solving the issues. Anyone interested in the discussion of these problems impacting onions is welcome to attend and participate in the W-3008 project and annual meeting. The group has been meeting for ~12 years.
