Event description

Description

All J1 and J2 level referees (formerly L1 and L2) must attend a clinic to referee youth lacrosse games in Oregon/SW WA, during the 2018 season.

Both Returning and New J2 (formerly L2) referees must be nominated for J2 status specifically for the 2018 season, regardless of their 2017 status.

**NEW** Youth Coaches are invited to attend the OYLA Ref Clinic for FREE--NO online registration necessary (DO NOT FINISH THE PAYMENT!), just show up at a clinic and sign in as a youth coach. You will receive no course materials, equipment or rulebook. You can take the J1 or J2 online test for FREE and become certified. If you want the course materials, equipment and rulebook, you must register as a regular participant.

NOTE: Please bring a sack lunch and bottle of water/drinks; the training duration is 6 hours and refreshments will not be provided. There is NO lunch break, we expect you to eat quietly as class continues as there is a lot of material to cover.

Walk-up registrations will only be accommodated as space allows. No walk-ups will be allowed in excess of the designated event capacity. Walk-ups will incur an additional processing fee ($50 total, payable by cash or check at the event site).

Attendees will receive:

  • OYLA specific ruleset matrix for 2018
  • 2018 NFHS HS Rulebook and 2018 USL Youth Rulebook (link)
  • Fox40 Whistle
  • Yellow Penalty Flag

The curriculum will include OYLA/US Lacrosse rules and on field practicum.

To serve as an official you must be covered by liability insurance, either
through US Lacrosse, through your club's insurance policy (as long as it
explicitly covers your work as an official), or both. To receive liability
insurance benefits as an official through US Lacrosse you must formally
register with them as an official. If you are already a US Lacrosse member
as a Player, you must change your membership to add "Referee" to your
status, so you are a Player/Referee in the US Lacrosse membership system.
