Description

Greetings!

As the NCMLE Executive Director, it is my sincere honor and privilege to welcome you to what will be one of the best conferences ever. Our team has worked diligently to have sessions for everyone, from Math and Science to English and Social Studies, to best practices and administrative leadership. No one will walk away from this year’s conference without fresh ideas, innovative strategies, and a sense of rejuvenation!

The COMMON GROUNDS conference committee has worked hard to plan a conference filled with enlightening discussions, presentations that will cover an array of topics which benefit middle school students and educators and also provide interactive opportunities for all of our conference participants. This is the year to be at the NCMLE conference!

This year we are very proud to present two North Carolinians to our stage for the very first time - Carrie Grace McQuaid and Carlos V. Davis. I am grateful that you are making plans to attend this year's conference and I'm excited about the information that will be shared and the experiences planned for everyone.

Carrie Grace will open our conference. She is a former teacher turned motivational speaker from Durham, NC. Carrie is on a mission to inspire others to spread joy and kindness, in hopes of people making the world better than they found it. She’s been known to love big; throw a party on an airplane, passed out free ice cream to strangers, and she loves to encourage anyone who crosses her path. She currently travels the country to inspire others and has been featured in major media including USA Today, Huffington Post, His Radio, and many more. Read more...

Closing out our conference, professional networking expert and author Carlos Davis will share his observations. Where, like you, Carlos has seen networking defined in numerous ways. Is it passing out business cards? Is it use of social media? Is it ‘all about the numbers’? Is it just for extroverts? Or is it something else? With numerous years of professional networking coaching, professional speaking, working in the corporate environment, and real-life business experience, his view is radically different. He shares that networking is less about your needs and more about the needs of others. Read more...

As a conference committee, we value the diversity that can be found in all middle schools, the level of commitment that we witness on the part of educators daily, and we want to ensure you that you will benefit from attending the 2018 NCMLE conference.

See you soon!

FAQs

Can I update my registration information?

Yes. Schools often need to change who they are sending. Click here for more information. (Only applies to individual school purchases.)

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Printed tickets are not required, but they may speed up the check-in process. Also, have a school or university ID with you when possible.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Your ticket is only transferable within your institution.

What is the refund policy?

We do not issue refunds after the first Friday in January (1/5/18), and a charge of $35 may be required for each refund to cover expenses of the organization related to your purchase. All refund requests after the first Friday of January will be considered for credit/transfer to next years conference. No refunds/credits/transfers will be considered after the Friday immediately before Conference (3/2/18).

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

Not a problem! We can fix it at the registration table if you like.

Is WIFI provided at the conference?

WIFI is included as a part of your stay at the Sheraton Greensboro at Four Seasons. However, WIFI is not provided by the conference for two very simple reasons: Most people have smartphones and data plans, and we would have to raise costs for everyone to cover the cost of WIFI. WIFI can be purchased for about $10 a day from the front desk at the hotel.

Why do you encourage people to stay at the Sheraton when I can stay across the street for "less"?

We encourage people to stay at the Sheraton for the ease of access, less driving and traffic, spliting the cost of the room is below the state rate, you have WIFI included in your stay, and it allows for more networking with colleagues across the state. So when you look at all you gain in a Sheraton stay, we believe a stay across the street is less and not worth it!!!
