Please keep in mind that your registration as an NFSN Member Network representative includes both the 2-day Member Convening and the 1-day NFSN Forum.


Member Convening Objectives:

  • To create a cohesive connected membership that welcomes and integrates new participants effectively
  • To support and strengthen networks through peer learning and sharing on emerging, promising, and best practices.
  • To develop a collective voice about calling attention to the value of Family Support and Strengthening Networks

  • Guided visit to the Maryland Family Network's Family Discovery Center. This is a great opportunity to learn what Family Support and Strengthening work looks like in another state by meeting with staff and families at this center. Please note that this Center has moved to a new, larger location since last year.


Friday, 5/18: POST-FORUM TRAININGS

Standards of Quality for Family Strengthening & Support Certification Training, 8:00am-5:00pm

For those who may be interested to participate, the National Family Support Network will provide this one-day certification training on the nationally-adopted Standards of Quality for Family Strengthening & Support. The training details how the 9 Principles of Family Support and the Strengthening Families Framework, with its evidence-informed 5 Protective Factors, can be applied together to enhance work with families. Participants who successfully complete the training will receive a certificate valid for two years.

Developing and Sustaining Effective Parent Advisory Committees Training, 8:30am-3:30pm

Whether a Program is exploring setting up a new Parent Advisory Committee or seeking to strengthen an existing one, this training will provide staff with the strategies and tools to develop an effective one. Up to 4 leaders from each statewide network are welcomed to participate.

Refund/Cancellation Policy:

If you cancel more than 5 days before the event, you will be refunded your registration fee less a $10 cancellation fee. If you cancel 0-5 days before the training date, no refund will be given.

MEMBERSHIP

Current NFSN Member Networks may renew their Membership in conjunction with registering for the Member Convening and NFSN Forum. Please select the add on option for Membership Renwal with your check out and fill out and return the FY18-19 Membership Agreement Form located at the bottom of the Membership page on the NFSN website.

New NFSN Member Networks may join in conjunction with registering for the Member Convening and NFSN Forum. Please select the add on option for Membership and fill out and return the FY17-18 Membership Agreement Form located at the bottom of the Membership page on the NFSN website.

Accommodations:

The NFSN has negotiated a special group rate for a limited number of rooms at a hotel near the venue:

The Pod DC Hotel ($229-249, plus 14.8% tax). To book, call or email the hotel sales coordinator, Devon, at (202) 847-4447 or dmingo@modushotelsdc.com and ask for the National Family Support Network group (Code 1805 NFSN). Book by April 17 at 5:00pm.

Hotel rates do fluctuate, it may be cheaper to book direct with the hotel without using the NFSN special group rate.

The closest parking garage is at 1011 10th St. NW (901 K St. NW) and is operated by LAZ Parking; reservations for this garage are available through SpotHero. The entrance is on 10th St. NW.

Travel Scholarships:

Member representatives of the National Family Support Network are asked to use funds from their own networks/organizations for traveling to and from the national convening. For those who are traveling more than 100 miles one way, and for whom travel costs would be a hardship, a limited number of scholarships for travel reimbursement are available. Member networks are asked to only request what is needed to allow their participation, so that the scholarship resources available can be used most effectively to maximize participation and engagement. Please download and review the Scholarship Guidelines and fill out and return the Request for Scholarships Form by April 13 at 5pm PST.
