No More Martyrs is pleased to present the 2018 Minority Mental Health Awareness Summit in recognition of Minority Mental Health Awareness Month.

African-American, Latino, Asian, LGBT and Native American speakers have been invited to share their perspectives on what it means to provide culturally responsive care and services.

This special event will take place at Samford University on July 12, 2018 with pre-summit training available on July 11th. All summit keynote sessions will take place in Regions Community Resource Room located in the Brock School of Business.


About the Summit

The Minority Mental Health Awareness Summit is a unique national event that focuses on the importance of cultural competence in mental health care and advocacy. The summit is open to the public and scheduled for July 12, 2018. Additional CEU credits are available through pre-summit training offered on July 11, 2018.

Who Should Attend

This event focuses on collaborative conversations about improving quality of mental care and dismantling stigma for minority populations. Target audiences include licensed mental health counselors, university students with interest in mental health, non-profit professionals, social workers, nurses, educators, consumers (and loved ones), mental health advocates, community health organizers and religious leaders.

Mental Health First Aid

Youth Mental Health First Aid Training will be offered as a Pre-Summit Training on July 11, 2018. Youth Mental Health First Aid is an 8 hour public education program that teaches participants the risk factors and warning signs of a variety of mental health challenges common among adolescents.
