Description

Escape from the hectic day-to-day life of the city to the enchanting hills of Abiquiu, New Mexico. You and your family can enjoy a 3 night stay at the amazing Dar Al-Islam Center—a beautiful madrasa and mosque nestled in a remote desert where the days are bright and full of possibility, and the night skies will simply take your breath away. There’s something for everyone: hiking, sports, recreation, arts & crafts, delicious food, time to relax and get closer to Allah, time to enjoy your family and meet other Muslims, and not to mention amazing guest speakers to help revive the spirit! This year’s theme will feature short talks, practical workshops and games to help you and your family learn new ways to improve your relationships and enrich your lives with Islam in the home!

Featured Speaker: Shaykh Hassan Lachheb earned his Ph.D. in Religious Studies at the University of Indiana, Bloomington. His academic research focused on the intellectual history and religiosity of the Muslims of Maghrib and Andalus. Shaykh Hassan is the resident scholar of the Muslim Community of Knoxville and the spearheading faculty member of the Tayseer Seminary. He currently resides in Knoxville with his wife and three children.

Youth Program: Imam ShemsAdeen Ben-Masaud He most recently served as an Imam and Youth Director at the Denver Islamic Society, (Masjid Al Nur). He is the Imam and Religious Director at Masjid Ikhlas. Imam ShemsAdeen is passionate about education, character development, and outreach. He plans to work heavily with the youth brothers and sisters and dawah committees. Anyone who has ever worked with him will testify that he is a very dedicated and hardworking individual who strives for excellence and efficiency. Imam ShemsAdeen understands the vital components of a successful community which is, first and foremost, to seek the pleasure of Allah, to establish a brotherhood/sisterhood, and to organize community activities.
