Event description

Description

WHAT:

All pastors, seminarians, ministry staff and congregational leaders are encouraged to attend the Winter Retreat. Spouses are also welcome! This will be an opportunity for ministry leaders and spouses to get away and be enriched through a time of fellowship, worship, prayer, education, and recreation.

For 2018, we are planning a Retreat with two parallel tracks. Participants may choose the Leadership Track or the Devotional / Worship Track (See PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS Below). Everyone on both tracks will share together in common worship and fellowship times.

WHEN:

The 2018 Winter Retreat will begin Sunday evening, January 28 and conclude at Noon on Tuesday, January 30. (See FULL SCHEDULE Below)

Come when you can; leave when you must!

WHERE:

Our Winter Retreat is held in Concan, Texas, a beautiful resort community located along the Frio River. The Dream Catcher and Rain Dancer cabins serve as our retreat home. Each is designed to host large family gatherings and can sleep more than two dozen people in various sleeping accommodations. We do our best to accommodate married couples in private rooms with queen beds, but we may not be able to do so depending on the total number of registrants. Our limited private bedrooms will be reserved for couples in registration order. So couples, please register early to have the best chance at a private bedroom.

HOW:

Cost of the retreat is $60 which includes the program, meals, and lodging. Please bring snacks and drinks to share. SAVE $10 by registering by January 21!

THE DETAILS...

PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS:

Leadership Track: Intended for pastors and other ministry leaders with a desire to think intentionally about congregational discipleship and outreach, the Leadership Track will be led by Pastors Art Hill and Mark Dahn of Trinity (LCMS) in Tyler. Art and Mark will share their experience of gently leading an established Lutheran congregation to discovering fresh joy in joining Jesus on his mission, implementing a new discipleship strategy in Tyler. Participants will engage in discussion and conversation throughout the program and share their own ideas and stories as we learn from one another. Leadership Track participants are encouraged to purchase and/or read Greg Finke's book, "Joining Jesus on His Mission" prior to the retreat: www.amazon.com/Joining-Jesus-His-Mission-Missionary/dp/193884002X. The book is not required for participation.

Devotional / Worship Track: New this year, the Devotional / Worship Track is offered as an alternative to the Leadership track and is intended to connect those spouses and other ministry leaders who are desiring a more spiritual retreat program. This track will feature "When God Doesn't Fix It", a study by songwriter Laura Story which will be led by Laurie Grube from Martin Luther | Church on Main in Giddings along with Kathy Bielfeldt, from St. John, Thrall. This track will feature short video introductions as well as Bible readings and discussion questions. Participants in the Devotional / Worship Track may be interested in purchasing and reading Laura Story's book: www.amazon.com/When-God-Doesnt-Fix-Lessons/dp/0718036972 The book is not required for particIpation.
