Description

Carol Anderson is the Charles Howard Candler Professor of African American Studies at Emory University and a 2018-19 John Simon Guggenheim Fellow in Constitutional Studies. Her research and teaching focus on public policy, particularly the ways that domestic and international policies intersect through the issues of race, justice, and equality in the United States.

Anderson is the author of the 2016 New York Times bestselling White Rage: The Unspoken Truth of Our Nation’s Divide, which won the National Book Critics Award for criticism. She is also the author of Eyes Off the Prize: The United Nations and the African-American Struggle for Human Rights, 1944–1955, and Bourgeois Radicals: The NAACP and the Struggle for Colonial Liberation, 1941–1960.

This event is presented by the Pozen Family Center for Human Rights and cosponsored by the International House Global Voices Program. A reception will follow the event.

This annual lecture honors the life and work of Robert H. Kirschner, MD, noted forensic pathologist and a founder of the University of Chicago Pozen Family Center for Human Rights.
