Event description

Description

This is a four-part workshop series. Attendance at all 4 sessions is strongly encouraged - March 26, April 9, April 16, and April 23. This workshop series will also be broadcast live via ZOOM.

Registration is required.

This annual workshop series is designed to assist early career faculty members and trainees interested in the mentored career development award. The NIH’s mentored “K” award - the most rigorous of career development grants - serves as a model throughout the series. In this series, participants will be introduced to the basic structure of an NIH "K" proposal and learn effective grant preparation strategies to help them be competitive with a variety of funders. The four-part series culminates with two facilitated panel discussions focused on demystifying the proposal development and review process. Several College of Medicine faculty members will graciously share their expertise and time, "paying it forward" by serving as presenters and panelists. Plan to attend all 4 sessions to fully benefit from this workshop series, which is sponsored by the Office of the Vice Dean for Research and Graduate Studies.

Participants Will Learn:

  • How to assess which mentored award is a "best fit" based on career stage and goals
  • Best practicies for navigating institutional commitment discussions
  • Maximizing communications with the program officer
  • Strategies to identify and engage a strong mentoring team
  • Grant preparation strategies - DO's and DONT's
  • How to learn from reviewer feedback and respond to a grant review

Registration Details:

Due to room size, registration for in-person attendance will be closed when registration reaches 50 persons. This workshop will also be broadcast live via ZOOM. If planning to attend via ZOOM, please select "ZOOM Participant" on the registration page. ZOOM Join URL: https://psu.zoom.us/j/808573991
