Event description

Description

Gender-sensitised weight management programmes for men: are they needed and do they work?

Kate is Professor of Gender and Health at the University of Glasgow and Associate Director of the MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit. She has led SPHSU’s research programme on Understanding and Improving Health within Settings and Organisations from 2014-18 (with a particular interest in professional sports and prison settings). Until 2014 Kate led SPHSU’s Gender and Health programme, reflecting a longstanding interest in how social constructions of gender impact on men’s and women’s risk and experiences of ill-health, and on health behaviours and help-seeking behaviours. In February 2018, Kate is moving to University of Stirling to take up a new position as Chair in Behavioural Sciences and Health.

The evening will include the presentation of awards to MSc students graduating in Nutrition, Physical Activity & Public Health MSc and will be followed by drinks and light refreshments.
