The 2018 Victim Justice Symposium will provide education and resources to victim advocates, law enforcement, medical personnel, prosecutors and all other professionals working with victims of crime. This bienniel event brings national and state experts together around the latest information and best practices in victimization, response and healing for all victims of crime.

Keynote Speakers include:

  • Russell Strand, creator of the Forensic Experiential Trauma Interview (FETI);

  • Vanessa McNeal, award-winning documentary filmmaker; and

  • Meg Garvin, Executive Director of the National Crime Victim Law Institute.

Breakout Sessions including topics such as:

  • "Facilitating the Male Trauma Experience - Beyond the Barriers"

  • "Processing Stress and Building Resilience with Yoga for First Responders"

  • "Rx Pain Killers & the Heroin Epidemic, A National Challenge with a Community Solution"

What is the cost to attend the Symposium?

$80 Early Bird Registration available until August 1, 2018 at 4:30pm.

$95 Regular Registration available until September 6, 2018 at 4:30pm.

$150 Vendor Fee (see below for additional details)

Are scholarships available for this event?

A limited number of scholarships will be available for this event. If you are in need of a scholarship or would like additional information on scholarship availability, please contact Brynne Howard at brynne.howard@ag.iowa.gov.

Are discounted hotel rooms available?

Yes, a limited number of hotel rooms are available to Symposium attendees at the discounted rate of $109.00 per night. Registrations must be made before August 13, 2018 at 5:00pm by contacting Marriot reservations at 1-800-228-9290 or 1-515-245-5500.

Are CEUs or CLEs available for this event? How do I register to receive CEUs or CLEs?

Yes. Social Work CEUs, CLEs, and continuing education for advocates will be available for this event. If you would like to receive continuing education credit, please mark this in your registration form.

Is same-day registration available for this event?

No. Only pre-registered attendees will be able to attend the event.

Can I pay a discounted price if I wish to send more than one person from my agency/organization?

No. Unfortunately we are unable to offer group discounts to attend the Symposium.

Is there a discounted price for early registration?

Yes. Early registration discounts ($80/ticket) will be available until August 1 at 4:30pm. Any tickets purchased after this time will be full price ($95/ticket).

Can I pay a discounted price if I only wish to attend one day of the event?

No. The price for the symposium will remain the same whether you attend one or both days of the event.

When will registration for this event close?

Early registration will close on August 1, 2018 at 4:30pm. General Registration will close on September 6, 2018 at 4:30pm. Please keep in mind that these dates may change if capacity for the event is met.

Are vendor tables available for this event?

Yes. Vendor tables are available for this event. The vendor fee of $150.00 includes registration and meals for one person plus the tabling fee. If you are a for-profit organization and would like a vendor table for our symposium, please register using the vendor registration ticket. Non-profit organizations may be able to waive the vendor fee. If you are a non-profit organization and are already pre-registered for the Symposium, please contact Brynne Howard at brynne.howard@ag.iowa.gov for additional information.

I have special dietary restrictions, will these be accomodated during meals?

Yes. If you have any special dietary restrictions please mark your dietary needs in your registration form.

Will I be able to request translation services for this event?

Yes. If you are in need of translation services for any/all of the conference, please mark this in your registration form.
