New Hampshire Public Radio is proud to announce United States Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith as the 2018 Winner of the Hall-Kenyon Prize in American Poetry.

The Hall-Kenyon Prize in American Poetry honors former U.S. Poet Laureate Donald Hall and former N.H. Poet Laureate Jane KenyonDonald Hall's late wife. The married poets lived and wrote together for nearly 20 years at Eagle Pond FarmHall’s ancestral home in Wilmot, New Hampshire.

Smith will receive the award from NHPR on Wednesday, Dec. 12, in Manchester, N.H.

The award presentation will include a reading from Smith and a conversation with Peter Biello, host of NHPR's All Things Considered. the evening will also include a remembrance of Donald Hall, who passed away in June.

Smith is the author of numerous books of poetry, and a Pulitzer Prize winner for her collection Life on Mars. Her books will be available for purchase at the event.

There is a 2 ticket limit per person for Eventbrite tickets.

Student tickets are $5 and will be sold at the door. Cash only.
