Ayn Rand has shown us that personally-cherished values—whether involving education, career, romantic love, family, friendship, and/or others—values are the meaning of life. Are there techniques to enhance one’s capacity to value, and consequently bring into one’s life increased passion, meaning, purpose? How does one go about forming values? What is a method for prioritizing them? Are there tips that might improve one’s ability to pursue values? Taking an integrated approach that examines valuing at all levels of human life—observation, thought, appraisal, emotion, and action—this talk answers these questions.

Join us for a relaxing getaway over Labor Day weekend in peaceful Port Sanilac, two hours north of Detroit. Spend four days of rational, benevolent merry-making, philosophical comradery and enlightening presentations — all under one roof at a large and comfortable vacation house.

Check in no earlier than 2 p.m., August 30, and check out by 2 p.m., September 3. Vacation house location info will be sent to you after Eventbrite confirmation.

The fee for attending GLOCON is $275, which includes 4 days and nights at the vacation house, or 50% cost at $138 if you are staying offsite at a hotel or camp.

Most activities are in one place, so there’s time to relax in the hot tub, go for a swim or kayak in the large and clean private lake, bike ride, hike, sit near the bonfire drinking an Ayn Rand-themed cocktail, and more — all on the property.

We plan to prepare/provide most meals and snacks, cost of which is already included in the admission. Let us know in advance of any special dietary needs or allergies, and we’ll work to accommodate as many as possible.

Admission also covers expenses for our featured speakers, Dr. Andrew Bernstein and Luc Travers.

Note to general speakers: due to the need to cover house rental and food, etc., we are unable to provide discounts for general speakers (as we have in the past).

Please let us know if finances are a concern. As always, we can work with anyone who might need assistance.

We'll have a day trip to Port Huron to tour the Thomas Edison Depot, Fort Gratiot Lighthouse, and boat cruise under the Blue Water Bridge. Plus, beach, marina and restaurants are an easy five-minute drive to Port Sanilac and Lake Huron. Total cost for outings not included in admission will be approximately $50.

Transportation can be provided by local GLO members. Space is limited, and events are subject to change.

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Looking forward to seeing you!
