Event Details

For the past 31 years, select TV meteorologists and weathercasters from across the country have been invited to attend the highly successful, dynamic and interactive Glen Gerberg Weather and Climate Summit for several days in January in the mountains of Colorado. Breckenridge Ski Resort and the Town of Breckenridge are partnering again to host the 2018 Glen Gerberg Weather and Climate Summit, Jan. 15-19, 2018.

If this is your first invitation, we can guarantee not only a fabulous time in a beautiful location but also significant content that you can send back to your station including live streaming, live shots via satellite and incredible interview opportunities with leading scientists. The topics to be discussed during the week include the JPSS-1 satellite launch and how JPSS will contribute to environmental observation and numerical weather prediction models, the current state of the models...like why do we compare the GFS to the Euro and how is compute power stacking up here in the US? You will participate in discussions about extreme flooding and the state of heavy precip forecasts from WPC, the extreme wildfire season and how NWS plans to provide Impact-based Decision Support Services (IDSS) to decision makers, emergency managers and the media. Yes! We will cover the devastating hurricane season of 2017, along with an outlook for the 2018 season. You will engage in conversations on space weather, the eclipse of 2017 and what NOAA is doing to improve space weather forecasts. You will hear the latest research findings about the Arctic and Antarctic and why our sea level rise expectations may be off--significantly.
