Event description

Description

The festival showcases the art of storytelling with a particular focus on Appalachian stories, both traditional and contemporary. The GMSF offers storytelling and musical performances, children's events, and workshops so that community members, visitors from afar, and students of all ages will not only learn about the tradition and history of our region through storytelling, but also have the opportunity to become part of its preservation.

Because this event has grown so much over the past three years, we're moving to a new venue. The 2018 Georgia Mountain Storytelling Festival will be held at the Union County Schools Fine Arts Center (926 Panther Overlook, Blairsville, GA 30512). This is just 10 minutes up the road from our previous venue, and it comes with plentiful parking, comfortable seating, and a terrific view of the surrounding area. You're in for a treat!

Our featured tellers for the 2018 festival are:

Regi Carpenter (www.regicarpenter,com)

Lyn Ford (www.storytellerlynford.com)

Michael Reno Harrell (www.michaelreno.com)

Andy Offutt Irwin (www.andyirwin.com)

Rev. Robert Jones, Sr. (www.revrobertjones.com)
