What is the GATE Seminar?

The Georgia Assistive Technology in Education (GATE) Seminar is a $15.00 comprehensive seminar for Educators, Therapists, Parents and Community Members to gather and learn about Assistive Technology to help achieve student success in the classroom. This seminar will feature a hands-on exhibit hall including national and local vendors in all areas of Assistive Technology. Specialists in the field will present a variety of sessions that focus on best practices, product demonstrations and classroom implementation strategies that will support each student as they reach for their “Accessible Tomorrow”.

Will there be Wi-Fi at GATE?

**Wireless Internet will be available for a charge of $3.00.  Debit or Credit Card ONLY, NO CASH accepted.  Wifi access can be purchased on location on the day of the event.  Instructions for Wifi access will be included in your attendee packet.


What is the Last Resort Fund?

***While admission is only $15.00, we are collecting $1.00+ donations for a LAST RESORT FUND.  This fund helps pay for assistive technology for people in need.  You may add a donation as you register for your GATE ticket or you may bring cash to make a donation on-site.  Contributors will be included in the drawing for DOOR PRIZES sponsored by our GATE exhibitors.

Call for Presenters!

We encourage educators and therapists working with assistive technology and vendors to apply to facilitate a session at GATE. Calls for presentations will be open until September 26, 2018. Notices will be sent out via email on or around October 1, 2018 of acceptance with session time and room assignment. Who is the 2018 Keynote Speaker?

For the 2018 GATE Seminar, rather than having one Keynote speaker, we will offer 4 featured speakers who will be giving GATE Talks. Each GATE Talk session will be a ticketed event to ensure that there are enough seats for session attendees and that each session is not over crowded. You will receive a ticket for the GATE Talk you want to attend once you visit registration the morning of the Seminar.  More information to follow on what your GATE Talk options are.  

 

What is a Make-it-Take-it Session?

Make-it-Take-it Sessions are sessions where participants create low-tech, activities, which they can take with them to use in the classroom.  Each Make-it-Take-it session is extremely limited in seating so be sure to pre-register for the one you want to attend today!  This 2018 Seminar will offer the same Make-it-take-it session during each presentation time this year so you do not have to worry about missing out on sessions you want to attend.  

 

Are the Make-it-Take-it Sessions an additional cost?

Yes.  If you would like to attend a Make-it-Take-it Session, the additional cost will be $12.00.  You will need to pre-register for these special sessions through Eventbrite and you will pay for them when you register.  The additional cost is for the materials that will be provided for you during the session to create the low-tech, activity.  You will get to take what you make during this session with you to use in your classroom with your students.  

 

What are my Make-it-Take-it Sessions options?

This year we will have a Make-it-Take-it Session during all 4 Presentations Sessions.  This Make-it Take-it sessions will be the same session offered 4 times to allow you to attend the sessions you want to attend.

The Session will allow you to Create Templates across curriculum areas. Interactive Templates for use across curriculum content will be demonstrated.  Participants will create several templates to take back to use in their classroom.  Additional templates and activities will be provided electronically.  Bring a camera, willingness to share and your enthusiasum!!!!

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No. There is no need for paper tickets or to print the confirmation email. Your name will be on an attendee list at the registration table. Be sure to check in at the registration table to pick up your name badge and attendee packet. It will be open on Friday December 7, 2018 from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

 Do you accept PO's as a form of payment?

As it turns out, we are not set up to be able to accept PO's.  Our recommendation is to purchase your tickets and then submit your receipt for reimbursement.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

What is the refund policy?

If you find that you are unable to attend the 2018 GATE Seminar, for any reason, you may transfer your ticket to another person by following the procedure below. Absolutely NO REFUNDS will be given under any circumstances. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.


Is my ticket transferable?

Yes. If you find that you are unable to attend the GATE Seminar, you may transfer your ticket to someone else in your school or district by emailing gateseminar@gmail.com and following the instructions you are sent.
