Join us for the 2018 Future of Social Ventures Conference and the GSVC US West Regional Finals on Friday, March 16th at Berkeley Haas.

The Future of Social Ventures Conference brings together members of the social impact community to advance practice, sharing, learning, and acceleration for social ventures, and will feature speakers and sessions from experts in the field of social impact.

This year's keynote speakers are two successful social entrepreneurs who will share their journeys to founding companies with impact:

Speakers from OpenIDEO and the Omidyar Network will lead sessions on Circular Design and Impact Investing, and the afternoon will feature the top US West Regional Finalists teams of the 2018 Global Social Venture Competition.

Leila Janah will also be available during the lunch hour to sign copies of her book, Give Work: Reversing Poverty One Job at at Time.

Circular Design for Social Impact (Wells Fargo Room - Ticket Required*)

  • Speakers: Lauren Ito and Christopher Krohn, OpenIDEO
  • What is the Circular Economy and how can Circular Design accelerate social impact? OpenIDEO discusses their work in the Circular Economy, and what they’ve learned along the way while designing projects that champion inclusiveness across cultures and economic spheres. Participants will then collaborate through ecosystem mapping to apply circular thinking to some of today's leading social and environmental issues.

Promises and Pitfalls of Impact Investing (Andersen Auditorium)

  • Speakers: Rafa de la Guia, Omidyar Network, and Julia Sze, Julia W. Sze Consulting
  • What are the promises and pitfalls of impact investing for increasing social impact? Join ​us as we dig into the challenges future impact investors and social entrepreneurs will face as they try to use for-profit models to amplify impact.

1:00 - 1:30 PM: Book signing with Leila Janah (Bank of America Forum)

2:00 - 5:30 PM: GSVC US West Regional Finalist Team Presentations (Andersen Auditorium)
6:00 - 8:00 PM: Networking and Awards Reception (Spieker Forum, Chou Hall, 6th Floor)

*Tickets for the session Circular Design for Social Impact with OpenIDEO will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis at registration beginning at 8:15 AM, so arrive early to secure your spot!

All sessions and events will take place at the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley, 2220 Piedmont Avenue, Berkeley, CA.



Getting to UC Berkeley / Parking Options:

Parking on the UC Berkeley campus is very limited and there are multiple events occuring at the Haas School on March 16th. We strongly recommend alternate/public transportation if that is a convenient option for you. Should you choose to drive, there are a few public lots on or near campus – the closest parking lots to the Haas School of Business are the Stadium Garage, Underhill Garage, and Witter Lot.
