Description

The Washington Tree Farm Program is excited to offer another fantastic Fall Forestry Seminar September 22, 2018 at the University of Washington’s Pack Forest near Eatonville, WA. The theme of the event is: Tree Farms in the Ecosystem: Options and Opportunities. Attendees will learn about different silviculture systems, ground and cable systems that help reach silviculture goals, managing for wildlife, and trail maintenance with presentations in the morning followed by an on-site field tour of Pack Forest.

8:30 – 8:45 AM - Welcome and introduction: Jenny Knoth, Washington Tree Farm Program Co-Chair

8:45 – 9:30 AM - Silviculture Systems: Dr. Greg Ettl, Director, Center for Sustainable Forestry at Pack Forest

9:30 – 10:15 AM - Ground and Cable Systems for meeting silviculture goals: Eric Koenig, Forester, American Forest Management

10:15 – 10:45 AM - Break

10:45 – 11:30 AM - Promoting Wildlife on your tree farm: Terra Rentz, Shawn Cleveland, WDFW Habitat program

11:30 – 12:15 PM - Developing Recreational Trail Systems on your tree farm: Jeff DeBell, Forester,Cascade Woodland Design Inc.

12:15 – 12:45 PM - Box Lunch 1:00 - 1:30PM Board bus for Silvicultural systems to meet objectives on Pack Forest Field trip.
