Join us for our 2018 Teacher Workshops!

This exciting professional development experience occurs in three states over three days!

You can register for one, two, or all three days.

*Please note registration will close Friday, July 13th at 5pm*

Benefits of Participating

  • Learn interdisciplinary ways to translate the environmental experience to your classroom
  • Explore areas of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware with scientists and educational professionals
  • Earn 4 to 6 clock hours (or professional development hours) per session or 18 clock hours for all 3 sessions upon completion

Wild & Scenic Jersey

  • WHEN: Monday, July 16, 2018
  • WHERE: 22 N. High Street, Millville, NJ
  • TIME: 8:30am – 4:00pm

Come take a cruise along the Maurice River and celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the National Wild & Scenic Rivers Act. Learn about the river’s history, the rich ecological value of this South Jersey region, and see some wonderful wildlife – bald eagles guaranteed! After this morning adventure, cool down in the local library for lunch and an afternoon nature-based art class that will result in a take-home craft.

Climate Adaptation for the Next Generation

  • WHERE: St. Jones Reserve, Dover DE
  • TIME: 8:30am – 3:30pm

Start your day by checking out our living shoreline installation at the Mispillion Harbor, which addresses the increased loss of tidal salt marshes in the Delaware Bay. Bring your boots! Our senior restoration coordinator will lead this educational tour and discuss many other projects we have implemented throughout the Estuary. Afterwards, we’ll stop in the DuPont Nature Center for a tour and return to the beautiful St. Jones Reserve to settle in for an afternoon of adapting your lessons to the Next Generation Science Standards!

Engineering Natural Systems

  • WHEN: Wednesday, July 18, 2018
  • WHERE: Fairmount Water Works, Philadelphia PA
  • TIME: 9:00am – 4:00pm

Take a tour with an expert from the Philadelphia Water Department to see some nationally recognized projects that address flooding and pollution! We will visits sites around the city that demonstrate a mix of engineering and natural systems. Afterwards, meet back at the Fairmount Water Works for lunch, a self-guided tour, and a workshop with a watershed curriculum expert focused on green stormwater infrastucture and stewardship.
