This program is a study in the practical use of patterned panels for interiors, shade, screening, railings and cladding. Program outline includes the introduction to Parasoleil, history of patterns, how to detect patterns, reasons to add patterns, pattern mapping, design considerations, best practices, process, applications and case studies.

Seminar #2 - Masonry Movement Joints (1.0 LU/HSW)

Presented by John Bachenski, Director of Industry Development and Technical Services International Masonry Institute

This presentation addresses the movement characteristics of vertical masonry wall systems. Focus is on best practice for design and construction of expansion and control joints to accommodate and/or restrict masonry material movement. Objectives for the seminar: Learn masonry movement joint definitions, discover how different masonry materials move, understand the purpose of masonry movement joints and acquire knowledge to design and detail masonry control strategies.

Presented by TK Davis, Professor, University of Tennessee College of Architecture & DesignThe University of Tennessee Nashville Urban Design Summer Program 2018

Nashville is on the Amazon HQ2 list of 20 cities under consideration. While the chances of Amazon HQ2 coming to Nashville is nominally one in twenty, Apple is believed to also be looking, more quietly, for a second headquarters location, as well as other corporate entities in the coming decades. The strategies and tactics we uncover will have application to a wide range of development opportunities and locations within downtown.
