Description

Meet the World Image Solutions, LLC cordially invites you to our second annual Black History
Month New Orleans Literary Weekend, scheduled to take place February 23-25, 2018! This event promises to be
one that will be both entertaining and fulfilling, with something for everyone.

The purpose of the Black History Month New Orleans Literary Weekend is to showcase published, self-published,
local and independent authors, as well as introduce young adults to a whole new literary world while
exposing them to a part of Black History beyond what they learn in school. The weekend will consist of a writing
workshop, a school visit, a literary jazz brunch, a stage play, and, of course, book signings!

Feb. 23, 11 am
Free Writers' Workshop @ Norman Mayer Public Library

The first event of the weekend will take place at 11 a.m., Feb. 23 at the Norman Mayer Public Library. The workshop will include a panel discussion featuring the participating authors on the importance of writing and literacy in our communities. Guest speakers will be Felicia Young, founder of Higher Minds of Education, and Wil Cason, a motivational speaker specializing in personal development seminars for middle, high schools and college students.

Feb. 24, 10:30 am
Literary Jazz Brunch @Tombar Life Center

Our signature event will take place at 10:30 a.m., Feb. 24 at the Tombar Life Center, where we will host a literary
jazz brunch! This event will feature a gourmet meal by New Orleans' own Chef Dell and special guests Rose
Bratcher, New Orleans' first African American Zen Monk, and Francheska Felder, founder of SwagHer
Magazine. This event will also feature the winners of Meet the World Image Solutions' first eighth- and ninth-grade
essay contest! A booksigning will follow this event.

Feb. 24

Cheatin' in the Next Room: The Stageplay 7:30 pm @ Xavier University's Administration Auditorium

The final event of the weekend, Feb. 24, will be the world premiere of Cheatin' in the Next Room: The Stageplay, based on the bestselling novel of the same name.
