Welcome to the 2018 Baltimore Open Presented by Renaissance Periodization

One of the most popular meets on the East Coast is back and this year's event will not disappoint.  We'll have great lifting and great fun in a local meet run under the quality of strict National standards.  Once you've lifted in a Baltimore Open, you'll have the experience to lift in a National meet.

Changes for 2018

You asked and we answered!  The Baltimore Open sells out very quickly and usually has a waiting list of over 70 athletes.  To accomodate more lifters, we've added a third day of lifting to the schedule.  On Friday, January 26, we will hold two additional sessions, 3:30 and 5:30, in addition to the traditional five on Saturday and five on Sunday.

In essence the process will work as multiple sessions of a class and the gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded after the entire class has lifted.  Athlete totals for those lifting in the Friday sessions will be scored with the remainder of the respective classes that lift on Saturday or Sunday. The scoreboard will contain the results from a class' prior sessions so that coaches and altheres lifting in later sessions wiill know the current leading totals.

We recognize that lifting on Friday afternoon may not be possible for all lifters.  Therefore, we've added a question to the order form for you to select whether you are interested in lifting on Friday.

This year we're proud to announce new partnerships.  To accomodate the lifters, coaches and spectators we have moved the meet to Old Line Crossfit in Millersville, Maryland.  The facility is larger than previous venues and closer to the center of the Maryland/Potomac Valley LWC.  Please note the change in venue address from previous Baltimore Opens.

We are also proud to partner with sponsors who are generously supporting local weightlifting.  Vulcan Strength Training Systems ( and Renaissance Periodization (

Special note for clubs and coaches - OSS WLC invites all participating USAW-sancioned clubs to bring and hang your club banner and set up a club information table.  Be our guest to provide information to potential lifters in your area.  Contact Mario Dispenza at 443.820.8293 or if you want to participate in this way.

You'll find lots more helpful information below but if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Meet Director Mario Dispenza at  Thank you for joining us, we look forward to seeing you in January.

With Best regards,

The OSS Weightlifting Club Board of Directors
