Event Details

May 1 -  2, 2018 - Annual Sacramento Advocacy Trip

Please join the Silicon Valley Leadership Group’s annual advocacy trip to California’s state capital, where we will engage with our state government on Silicon Valley's policy priorities.

The Silicon Valley executive delegation will meet with key state Senate and Assembly leaders, the Governor's office, constitutional officers and key agency department leaders. In addition to high-level visits, the trip will feature networking opportunities with Silicon Valley industry leaders. Among them this year's advocacy trip c-leader, Victor Arranaga, Government Relations Regional Manager at HP.

We will be advocating on behalf of the following policies:

  1. BART to Silicon Valley, Phase II – Cap & Trade Funding towards Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program
  2. Business Needs Market Certainty: Extend Cap and Trade Past 2020
  3. Clean Energy Supply: Supporting a planning goal of zero-carbon generation of electricity by 2045
  4. Placing an Affordable Housing Bond on the November 6th 2018 Ballot
  5. Streamline the Approval Process for Additional Housing
  6. Health Care Law Reform – Accessible and Affordable
  7. Workforce Development
  8. K-12 Quality: Addressing California’s Teacher Shortage
  9. Strengthening California’s Cybersecurity Industry
  10. Encouraging the Expeditious Testing and Deployment of Autonomous Vehicles

This year, the Sacramento Advocacy Trip will begin with a Roundtable Dinner featuring the Silicon Valley Caucus on Tuesday, May 1 at a location in Sacramento still to be determined, and beginning at 6:30 pm. The next day will include a full day of advocacy. Morning plenary sessions will begin at 10:00 am, and lunch will be served at 12:00 pm (noon).
