Event Details

TCPA invites you to the second Annual 2018 Conference in Austin. This exciting two day event bring training, networking and partnering. Training day will provide an opportunity to hear subject matter experts discussing proper installation practices, as well a chance to hear TxDOT and FHWA professionals discuss current affairs. 

Completing the full day training agenda qualifies attendees for 7.0 PDHs.

  • DAY 1 (November 29th)

Full Training Day Schedule (Nov 30)

8:30 - 9:00    Registration and Welcome

9:00 - 10:00 Proper Pipe Installation. A properly installed pipe should remain in service for 50 to 100 years with little or no repair. This class promotes a solid understanding of installation, specifications, design requirements and material differences for pipe systems. Empower your staff with this knowledge. - Walt Cattlet, PE, ACPA

10:00 - 11:00 Maintenance Condition Assessment. A maintenance condition assessment allows public agencies to identify required funding levels, a strategy for prioritizing maintenance conditions and areas of excessively high or low maintenance. Developing a method for collecting roadway maintenance information in order to assess the overall condition of roadway assets provides the data to create a maintenance condition assessment. - Alena Mikhaylova, Ph.D., Rinker Materials

11:00 - 12:00 City of Austin Stormwater Infrastructure Asset Management. Asset management helps to identify a structured sequence of maintenance, preservation, repair, rehabilitation, and replacement actions that will achieve and sustain a desired state of good repair over the lifecycle of the assets at minimum practical cost. - Morgan Byers, P.E. 1:20 - 2:00 Evaluation/Selection of ConsultantsStudents will receive guidance on the basic process of selecting a consultant. Evaluation and Selection of Consultants is the process by which an agency must decide on the service needed; how broad a list of consultants to have for consideration; how to develop the proposal; which selection process to use; what criteria to use; and who will be involved in the selection. - Liza Kirk, P.E., Forterra

2:00 - 2:45 TxDOT - Bridge Inspection. Mr. Carrasco, who is the head of TxDOT's State Bridge Inspection Program will discuss TxDOT's strategy to manage their bridge assets, making sure they provide the longevity and resiliency needed by the citizens of Texas. - Bernie Carrasco, P.E.,TxDOT - Bridge Division

2:45 - 3:30 Precast Box Culvert Installation. Precast Reinforced Concrete Box Culverts (RCB) empower owners with a time saving, extremely durable bridgereplacement option.
