Featuring Keynote Speaker:  Matthew Desmond
Opening Plenary Session on Wednesday, August 22

Matthew Desmond is the John L. Loeb Associate Professor of the Social Sciences at Harvard University and codirector of the Justice and Poverty Project. A former member of the Harvard Society of Fellows, he is the author of the award-winning book, On the Fireline, coauthor of two books on race, and editor of a collection of studies on severe deprivation in America. His work has been supported by the Ford, Russell Sage, and National Science Foundations, and his writing has appeared in the New York Times and Chicago Tribune.

Day 1, August 21:

  • Development: OHFA Required ADA & Accessibility Training
  • Financing: Sessions include National Housing Trust Fund, Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka & Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City - OKC Branch; CDFIs & NMTCs; Tax Credit 101.
  • Homeownership: Sessions include Home Equity Conversion Mortgages & Reverse Mortgages; Native American Housing Resources; Oklahoma Housing Resources for Downpayment Assistance; Duty To Serve
  • Property Management: Sessions include Aging in Place; Income Averaging; International Property Management Code; Developing & Implementing a Smoke-Free Policy for Housing.

Day 2, August 22:
Opening Plenary: Matthew Desmond, author of Evicted.

  • Advanced LIHTC: Sessions include Year 15 Exit Strategies; 2018 Required Changes to Operating & Partnership Agreements; Debt & Equity Panel; Casualty Losses and the Ability to Claim Tax Credits.
  • Development: Sessions include Workforce Development; Opportunity Zones; OHFA Rehab Standards; UPCS Training.
  • Property Management: OHFA Required ADA & Accessibility Training
  • Special Focus: Communications; OK Affordable Housing Act; Historic Tax Credits 101; Advocacy 101

CE Credits:
The Homeownership Track 
on Tuesday has been approved for 5 hours of OHEA Homebuyer Education Professional Continuing Education Credits, if the entire track is attended. Otherwise each session will receive one hour of CE except Duty To Serve which is 1.5 hours.

Oklahoma County Assessors may receive continuing education credits through Oklahoma State University.  Certifictes of Attendance will be provided for submittal.

A limited number of scholarships for half off registration are available for nonprofit members and students.  Limit is 2 per non-profit and 1 per student.  Please download the Scholarship Application and email Andrea Flowers-Householter, Coalition Manager. Scholarship applications will be reviewed by the committee and recipients will be notified once approved.  After June 30, any remaining scholarships may be assigned to nonmember, nonprofit organizations on a first come first serve basis.

The mission of the Oklahoma Coalition for Affordable Housing (“Coalition”) is to lead the movement to ensure that all residents of the state of Oklahoma flourish in safe, affordable homes and to help communities develop safe and affordable housing options for all residents.  We reach our mission through advocacy, education, and practical training to foster the production and maintenance of affordable housing throughout the state.
