Description

Hanger Clinic, Tommy’s and John Collins Park have joined together to offer a free adaptive wakesurfing clinic in Grand Rapids, MI for people with limb loss and limb difference and other physical challenges. This clinic is appropriate for all ages, from beginners who’ve never tried wakesurfing before to experts! All boats and equipment will be provided, and there will be professional instructors on each boat to help each rider achieve their goals. Join us for a memorable day on the water, where you can try something new and connect with the local adaptive community!

LIMITED SPACE AVAILABLE: Register ASAP to reserve your spot.

EVENT WILL INCLUDE:

  • Learning fundamentals of how to wakesurf
  • Mentoring from adaptive wakesurfing athlete Lexi Youngberg, who is a below-knee amputee herself and passionate about sharing her love of this sport with others with physical challenges
  • Exercises to improve balance & stability on surfboard
  • Opportunities to test out the latest prosthetic technologies
  • Community-building with other attendees and families

PROFESSIONALS ON-HAND WILL INCLUDE:

  • Certified Prosthetist Orthotists (CPO)
  • Professional wakesurfing instructors

Registration is required for individuals participating in the clinic. Family and friends do not need to register. All participants will be required to sign a waiver. If the participant is under 18, a legal guardian or parent must be present and sign the waiver.

Additional stops on the 2018 Adaptive Wakesurfing Tour are Orlando, FL, 6/23/18 and Westminster, CO 8/26/18.
