This Registration is just step 1 (of 3) of the registration process! In order to be fully registered for camp, a Parental Packet and Youth Packet (will be emailed to campers) MUST be completed and submitted by 6/30/17 for each camper!

Note to returning campers! We are at a different camp location this year (in Ottawa, IL - we make the location known to fully registered campers)! This means most campers will be sleeping in screened-in cabins that don’t have electricity and house 4 sets of bunk beds. Programming will occur in larger cabins that do have power (so there’s still plenty of chances to charge your devices), but this will not be the case where you sleep. Each bunk will receive a lantern that will act as the primary light source but flashlights are also essential.

About Action Camp:

For the last four years the Illinois Safe Schools Alliance (the Alliance) has hosted a 4-day sleepaway Youth Leadership Action Camp for young people throughout the state of Illinois to come together in order to discuss those issues most pertinent to them and learn from one another how best to advocate for change within their school and home communities. And this year we're adding another day!

Students who are rising 8th through 12th graders in Illinois who are interested in making schools safer for students throughout the state are encouraged to apply for Action Camp. The cost for a camper to attend the five day Action Camp is $150.00. We understand that this cost might be prohibitive to some so we have created a sliding payment scale. The Alliance will never deny a student the opportunity to attend camp because of financial reasons. There are also opportunities for more resourced families to provide other young folx the opportunity to attend through sponorship level tickets and additional donations.

Timeline: Eventbrite registration: 5/2/17-6/2/17; Forms due: 6/30/17; Camp: 8/7/17-8/11/17. Please submit forms electronically to actioncamp@illinoissafeschools.org. (If you don’t have access to a scanner, Genius Scan is a great app you can use to take pics of you forms and get them in!)
