This summit will feature guest speakers Rubén Austria, founding Executive Director of Community Connections for Youth (CCFY) and Shaena Fazal, National Policy Director of the Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. (YAP) and author of Beyond Bars: Keeping Young People Safe at Home and Out of Youth Prisons. Topical sessions include: Milwaukee Youth Voices, History of the Juvenile Justice System, Policy Strategies: Roundtable with Policymakers, and an overview of the ACLU of Wisconsin’s Lawsuit Challenging the Conditions at Lincoln Hills and Copper Lake Prisons. There wil be a Community Visioning Session from 6 until 7 p.m. This event is free and open to the public, but requires registration.
