Hosted jointly by the Washington State School Directors' Association (WSSDA), Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA), and the Washington Association of School Business Officials (WASBO), the annual Legislative Conference/Day on the Hill helps school directors, superintendents and other district leaders hone their advocacy skills as they meet one-on-one with legislators to support common legislative priorities. It is also a great opportunity to hear the latest updates on policy and budget issues and to network with colleagues.
In hopes of better accommodating our large numbers the conference is being held at South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia, WA. The main program will take place in the Minnaert Center, Building 21. and Association meetings and regional caucuses will be held in Buildings 20-23. The conference reception will be held in the Student Union, Building 27.
What are my transportation/parking options getting to the event?
Parking on the SPSCC campus is free. Parking lots nearest the Minnaert Center are A, G, and H. Lot B is reserved for campus Staff and conference presenters, please. Handicapped parking is available just north of the Minnaert Center in Lot G.
Red Lion Hotel offers its guests a 10-seat van that travels anywhere within a four mile radius.
Sunday, the shuttle will be available for transport to/from SPSCC (conference venue) based on availability. Reservations will be required.
- Monday, the shuttle will run to the Capitol every hour. Reservations required.
What can/can't I bring to the event?
Pursuant to WAC 292-110-010, WSSDA is a state agency responsible for the proper use of state resources. Unauthorized distribution of materials that support, promote the interests of, or solicit for an outside organization or group by an attendee at any WSSDA-sponsored event or in any conference facility utilized by WSSDA for such events may result in revocation of the credentials that allow that individual to attend the event and/or barring that individuals attendance at future WSSDA–sponsored events.
What is the refund policy?
Full refunds are available until January 31, 2017. There will be a $75 cancellation fee beginning on February 1, 2017. No refunds will be given to no-shows. Refunds for payments made via credit card will be applied to the credit card used for the original purchase.
