2017 Westland All American Backyard BBQ Throwdown

Do you think you have what it takes to be crowned the Best Backyard BBQ? The Westland Area Jaycees will be hosting the Third Annual All American Backyard BBQ Throw Down on August 5, 2017. Categories will be Chicken, Pork Ribs, Pork and Beef Brisket. Entry fee includes entry into each category and teams must enter all four categories to qualify for the overall champion prize.
Prizes will be awarded to the Overall Champion and the Category Winners.
Turn on Saturday in will be as follows:
- 5:00pm Chicken
- 5:30 Ribs
- 6:00 Pork
- 6:30 Beef Brisket
Wood, wood pellet, charcoal, and gas cooking is permitted. No open pits or holes allowed. Teams must provide their own equipment. Each contestant must submit at least 6 portions of the meat for judging. Ribs shall be turned in bone-in. Chicken, Pork and Brisket may be turned in chopped, pulled, sliced or diced. Sauce is optional but if used it should be applied directly to the meat (no side containers).
Teams can arrive Friday August 4th and set up camp. Each team will be allowed a 20 by 20 site. Teams will be responsible for making sure their cooking space is clean and orderly following the competition. Vehicles will not be allowed to remain on campsite but ample free parking is included nearby.
Water available on site but may not be available at all campsites. Electric hookup (15A, 110V) is available for an additional $20.
