2017 UTRGV Social Work Conference
Thu, March 23, 2017, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CDT
Celebrate Social Work Month!
Social workers must develop a sensitive yet informed approach when working with service users from different social and cultural groups in many aspects of life; including assessing human services, people who are marginalized, ignored, stigmatized or discriminated against because of one or more aspects of their identity: age, sexual orientation, faith or belief, gender, race or ethnicity, social class, and disability. Respecting diversity is a core principle in social work education. Social Workers are repeatedly reminded of the importance of practicing in ways that are sensitive to clients’ backgrounds and experiences as the increase in immigration and other trends bring a variety of people into our society. This year’s UTRGV Social Work Conference will focus on the role of social work in addressing issues of diversity!
