2017 UF/IFAS Clay County Master Gardener Training Course

Register for the 2017 University of Florida/IFAS Clay County Master Gardener Training program. This is an intensive 9 week training course held in conjunction with UF/IFAS St. Johns County Extension to train a new group of Master Gardeners on an annual basis. The classes will run from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm and will cover a broad array of topics such as gardening, landscaping, plant pathology, entomology, pest control, customer service, turf grass, and proper plant care. An end of course exam will also be administered.
Following completion of the course, each individual must complete 75 hours of volunteer service on approved Clay County Master Gardener programs during the first year to earn the title of Master Gardener. In subsequent years, Master Gardeners must donate a minimum of 35 hours of service and 10 hours of Continued Education Unit training to stay in the program.
Volunteer programs include in-school educational programs, plant clinics, teaching classes, working on our educational demonstration gardens, volunteering at the Clay County Fair, and working to make our plant sale a success.
The total cost for the course is $100 and will include books and materials. This must be paid by June 1st through Eventbrite and will be refunded if you are not selected for the this years course. Once registered for this course, you will be sent an application and letter to review and send back in for consideration for entry, due by June 1st, 2017. Seating is limited to 20 trainees so the application process may be competitive. There will be an Open House and informal interview on June 13th at our office from 1-3 pm which may be extended based on the pool of applicants.
