Description

What is a Tunnel to Towers Run & Walk?

The Tunnel to Towers Run & Walk Series was created to honor the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001 after strapping on his gear and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers. Honor all of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and support our first responders and military who make extraordinary sacrifices in the line of duty! For more information on the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation please visit www.tunnel2towers.org

How far is a Tunnel to Towers Run & Walk?

Our race route is a true 5K (3.1 miles). It begins with one (1) lap around the track, goes out into the neighborhood and then concludes with a final (1) lap around the track. You are welcome to walk or run this event.

Is the course certified?

The course will be measured correctly, but is not certified, at this time.

Is the race timed and can I get a timing chip?

We are working with a timing company. Check back soon for more information.

How are racers/walkers staged to start the race?

We are glad to have runners and walkers of all levels participate in our event. In order to accommodate different levels, we will be staging participants into 4 corrals:

  • Corral A: First Responders, with those wearing their gear at the front of the corral
  • Corral B: Runners with time of 20 minutes or less
  • Corral C: Runners and walker with a time of 21-29 minutes
  • Corral D: Runners and walkers with a time of 30 minutes or greater

You will be assigned to your Corral when you pick up your packet.

Where can I pick up my packet?

We encourage everyone to pick up their packet prior to race day. Packet Pick-up will be available:

  • Thursday, September 22nd, 5pm-8pm, location TBD
  • Friday, September 23rd, 5pm-8pm, location TBD
  • Saturday, September 24th, time TBD prior to the race in the Anderson Middle School parking lot

Can someone else pick up my packet?

We strongly encourage all runners to pick up their own race packet. It is important for runners to verify their data and make any necessary changes. However, if it is not possible for you to pick-up your own packet, you may have someone pick it up for you. That person will be responsible for verifying personal race information (name, age, birthdate, etc.).

May I register in person?

For those who wish to register in person, we recommending doing so during our scheduled packet pick-up times on Thursday and Friday before the race.

If the event is not sold out, in-person registration is also available the morning of the race. Please note, this is considered a late registration and an additional fee will apply.

Can I register the day of the run?

If the event is not sold out, in-person registration is also available the morning of the race. Please note, this is considered late registration and an additional fee will apply.

When does online registration close?

Online registration will close several days before the event

What are the guidelines for children and youth participation?

We are excited to have youth runners and walkers! In the interest of safety, we recommend each child younger than 14 years old run with an adult and each adult supervise no more than three (3) children.

Is there transportation to and from the event?

No, we do not provide transportation to and from the event.

Is there parking available?

Parking in the Anderson Middle Schools parking lot will be reserved for a limited number of first responders.

Additional parking options will be published as they are confirmed.

Yes, please display your bib on the front of your outermost garment. Those who run without a bib will be asked to leave the course and will not be allowed to finish.
