About Mexico Caravan Ministries
Mexico Caravan Ministries www.mexicocaravanministries.com is a missions mobilization ministry. Their primary objective is the revelation of God's heart for the world, the presentation of His plan for worldwide missions and the motivation of His people to take part in His global plan.

FAQ #1: Is Tijuana, Mexico Safe?

What will we do?
Most of what we do involves construction. Jobs may include building 12´x12´ or 12´x16´ shelters for those who don’t have adequate housing, putting on roofs, building outhouses, digging outhouse holes, etc. The materials will be purchased in Mexico and ready for delivery to the work sites. They will provide tools as well as the expertise to get the job done. Some groups also choose to prepare activities for the children that gather around the work site, such as informal games and crafts. Regardless of what is planned there will usually be plenty of children with whom to play and people with whom to interact at the job site.

When are we going?
The trip dates will be August 5th-August 13th and broken down as follows:

  • August 5th – Travel to San Diego and spend the day hanging out
  • August 6th – Head to church, grab lunch and head over the boarder
  • August 7th-10th – Spend our days building shelters for families in need
  • August 11th – Serve with an orphanage and bring food to Tijuana Dump
  • August 12th – Enjoy some time in San Diego and then travel home on a redeye arriving at JFK in the early morning of August 13th

Where do we sleep and eat?
We will be staying in a dormitory in the Mariano Matamoros section of Tijuana, Mexico’s fastest growing city. The accommodations at the dorm are rustic. We will be sleeping on wooden bunks, most of which have foam mattresses. There are indoor restrooms, running water (though not showers) and electricity.

As for meals, we will prepare our own breakfasts at the dorm which will be from groceries bought in San Diego. We will buy supplies to make sandwiches for lunch if necessary but most often the families we are building for will provide our lunch. In the evenings we will eat out at local restaurants. Sufficient bottled water will be provided.

Cost
The trip will cost about $1500.00 per person which covers everything needed during the trip.
