Moving Clay Forward: Advancing the Craft is the theme of the third annual South Carolina Clay Conference presented by the Newberry Arts Center in Newberry, SC on February 24-26, 2017. “Masters of Ceramics” and internationally recognized, Tom and Elaine Coleman from Henderson, Nevada will be demonstrating and presenting. The final even presenter, Josh Copus, is a native of the Blue Ridge Mountains. His approach to making pottery values the importance of local materials, learned through studies of folk potteries from around the word. Presenter work will be featured at the SCCC Pottery Sale. The SCCC Pottery Sale will be open to the public on Friday, February 24 and Saturday, February 26 from 10am to 6pm.

The 2017 SC Clay Conference is being held at Newberry Firehouse Conference Center (NFCC) located at 1227 McKibben Street, Newberry, SC.
Pre-Registration is required.
Registration begins November 11, 2016 at Noon and runs through January 31, 2017 at 5pm. Late registration will be available January 31st after 5pm through February 17, 2017 at 5pm, when registration closes. Note there will be an additional $50 charge added to late registration fee.
Refund Policy: Registration refund policy is as follows; Registration fee minus $50.00 will be refunded before December 31, 2016. Refunds requested after December 31 and before January 31, will be in the amount of registration fee minus $100.00. There are no refunds after January 31, 2017.
Early check-in and set-up is available on Thursday, February 23 from 4:00PM-6:00PM at the Newberry Firehouse Conference Center, 1227 McKibben Street.
No child care service or supervised area is available during the conference.
POTTERY SALE INFORMATION
SCCC Pottery Sale & Exhibit: Attendees are invited to bring pieces of their work for sale during the widely advertised SC Clay Conference Pottery Sale & Exhibit. This Pottery Sale is open to the public and operated by NAC Staff and Volunteers. Only 15 items may be displayed for sale at a time, however additional work may be brought to replace items sold during the pottery sale. Two weeks prior to the event an Inventory sheet and pricing sticker booklet will be provided by mail for registered participants to list items for sale as well as prices. A commission of 25% will go back to Newberry Arts Center, so prices should be set accordingly. All sales will be handled by the Conference staff. A check for items sold will be mailed to the attendees by March 31, 2017.
Pottery and clay sculpture for sale should be delivered to Newberry Arts Center at 1200 Main Street, Newberry during check-in. Equal size spaces will be available for all participants and presenters registered as bringing work for sale.
Drop-off and set up for Sale & Exhibit will be on Thursday, February 23 from 3pm -6:00pm and Friday, February 24 from 7:30am-9:30am.
