Join Kasia Drake-Hames (www.kdhartstudio.com) as she instructs you in creating beautiful, wearable art. Using bright, vibrant dyes, participants will create their own hand-designed silk scarves. In this class Kasia will take us a step beyond just painting and teach “stamping” and “resist painting.” Sample designs will be provided, or use your imagination to make your own designs. Participants will create three scarves each in this fun, hands-on workshop.
Kasia teaches art classes to adults and youths in a variety of locations. She loves engaging people through art, and encouraging creativity. She has a BFA in Fiber from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and continued with Theory and History of Art Therapy at Mount Mary College. She has exhibited her work in numerous solo and juried exhibitions including the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts, Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, and the Milwaukee Art Museum. Kasia has completed many public art commissions including for the Shorewood Public Library and the Healing Center in Milwaukee.
The class will be small and relaxed so each student receives individual attention. No previous experience is required. All are welcome. Cost for the workshop is $55 which includes all supplies to complete three scarves, and lunch in the Cedar Valley dining room. Additional scarves of various sizes will be available for purchase.
