The SFATA 2017 Annual Meeting and Conference is all about relevant content you need and a good dose of stress-relieving fun opportunities. We've had a tough year. Let's blow off a little steam together and then gear up for the important work of creating our destiny with the new FDA!

See our website for full details! Www.sfata.org

This event will:

- Highlight and inform advocacy at all levels (state, local, and federal)

- Educate small business owners on best practices that will save you money and headaches.

- Allow you to hear directly from elected officials at all levels of government on how best to sway the opinions of their collegues.

- Force you to have fun, even if you came prepared to be serious and and grumpy.

- Open our arms to all vapor companies who want to join our efforts to create a healthy regulatory environment for these products going forward.

- Introduce some exciting new programs and initiatives that you can get behind and chart your destiny!

This event will NOT:

- Break your bank. We've intentionally kept costs low, including our venue and the options for lodging in the surrounding area!

- Leave you hungry. We have amazing catering from area eateries.

- Exclude anyone: Members and non-members alike are welcome to register. We want to foster a greater sense of cooperation and unity, so you will find yourself VERY welcome here if you aren't a member of SFATA.

- Force you to stay in a hotel at all. We have an RV campground right on our site! Let's camp!!!

Is any part of the cost of this event tax deductible?

Smoke-Free Alternatives Trade Association (SFATA) is a nonprofit organized as a 501(c)6 under the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. Contributions or gifts to Smoke-Free Alternatives Trade Association are not tax deductible as charitable contributions for Federal income tax purposes. However, they may be tax deductible under other provisions of the Internal Revenue Code. For tax year 2017, we estimate 80% of dues will go to the organization’s lobbying activities. Please consult your tax advisor.

Are there any sponsorship opportunities left?

We do have several incredibly priced opportunities to market your business at this conference! Check out our website's Conference pages for detail. Then, just shoot an email to info@sfata.org if you are interested and we can give you the rundown on what hasn't yet been snatched up by another member. NOTE: You must be a SFATA member to market your business through conference sponsorship opportunities.

I heard we have the option of camping on site in our RV this year. Is that real?

Yes! This rumor is actually true! For $35/night you can have full hook ups for your own rolling hotel room. You can rent an RV online, if you don't own one. Come camp with us! See our website www.sfata.org for more information on this.

Is there a block of rooms for this event at an area hotel?

No. We did negotiate a nice rate at a nearby hotel, though.

And, there are many reasonable options close by our venue to choose from. See our conference pages on our website for full list and contact information for these great properties!

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

You may be asked to show your ID at the door. Adults only for the entire event.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There is free parking in the lot adjacent to the OnAZ Pavilion meeting hall. We highly recommend you rent a car in Phoenix if you don't drive in for the conference, as public transportation does not cover the entire area.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Send an email to info@sfata.org.

What will the weather be like?

North Phoenix weather at this time of the year will have begun to cool off from the scorching summer heat for which we are infamous. But, it will still be sunny and warm if historical averages are a prediction and almost certainly beautiful weather for November 1-2 in the US. It is a dry climate, so it feels a lot cooler than it is! Check the forecast before packing your bag, though, always.

What is the dress code?

All business meeting parts of the agenda are business casual. If you choose to buy a ticket for the fundraising dinner on November 1, feel free to dress it up a bit. But, our entire event is going for that "classy rustic" feel. So, leave your stilleto heels and tophats at home. You may be walking on uneven surfaces at times, so adorn your toes appropriately.

Someone told me we can sign up for a Zombie Hunt at the range the night before the event. Why don't I see that here anywhere?

The Halloween Zombie Hunt is actually an activity being put on by the Arizona State Rifle and Pistol Association. ASRPA is handling all of their own reservations and runnign this event. You can read more about it and register to hunt at their event page. Proceeds from their event will benefit SFATA. Space is limited for safety reasons. So, don't hesitate to sign up!!!!

Since the meeting event is situated on a 1600+ acre public shooting range, is it possible to utilize the range while there?

YES! The Ben Avery Shooting Range is a world-class 5-Star rated public range. Everyting from archery to trap/skeet clays to long-range target shooting is right outside our door. Come early or stay late and enjoy the beautiful weather at this range! See their site for full information on what is available, range fees, etc.

Besides the vast number of "on your own, at your leisure and at your own risk" opportunities on site, there are a couple activities that are scheduled at Ben Avery Shooting Range during our time there. These provide you with everything you need, including a loaner firearm and certified safety officers, but you must register in advance for both:

1. The ASRPA Halloween Zombie Hunt (ses above) on October 31, starts at 4:00 pm

2. The Sporting Clays Tournament (just a fun shoot - beginners welcome and coaches will be on site to help out) on November 2. This will start at 1:00 pm, giving you an hour after the close of our SFATA conference agenda to grab a bite to eat and get NEXT DOOR to participate. We are handling the signups for our attendees and will give the list to Ben Avery's Clay Target Center staff in advance. Sign up no later than October 21 to participate (limited space available, so probably good idea to sign up now).

Note: Arizona is one of the states that embraces the shooting sports more than many, but there are still laws around transporting firearms to the venue from your home. SFATA cannot advise you on those laws, but we encourage you to learn more before you travel.
