Medical Surge Display of Capabilities

Date & Time: Monday October 2, 2017 | 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (walk-throughs held every 30 minutes on a first come, first served basis)

Location: Zuckerberg General Hospital (please note that the display will be at the parking lot on the corner of Potrero Ave. & 23rd St . You may enter via 23rd St.)

Audience: Local and regional emergency managers, public health and medical professionals, medical/health non-governmental organizations, community groups.

As part of 2017 Fleet Week, the Department of Emergency Management in partnership with the Port of San Francisco will be hosting the Fleet Week Full Scale Exericse, Medical Surge Display of Capabilities. This exercise -- the final in a three-day exercise sequence -- will test the ability of the City and County of San Francisco to receive and manage state and federal medical assets (field medical clinics, medical personnel, etc.) and integrate those assets in the local command and control structure 96 hours following a 7.8 Earthquake on the San Andreas Fault.

The Medical Surge Display of Capabilities will demonstrate the co-location of field medical treatment facilities and assets from the San Francisco Department of Public Health, California Emergency Medical Services Authority and US Marine Corps at San Francisco Zuckerberg General Hospital. Observers will be guided through each medical asset, given a briefing on capabilites and provided the opportunity to speak with medical surge personell from each agency.

The display will include the following assets:

  • San Francisco Department of Public Health Field Care Clinic
  • California Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) California Medical Assistance Team (CAL-MAT) Structure and C3 Communication Vehicle.
  • Unites States Marine Corps Shock Trauma Platoon
