THE 39 STEPS

February 9 - 19

Winner of the 2007 LAURENCE OLIVIER AWARD for Best New Comedy and the 2008 Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience, and 6 Time Tony Award Nominee in 2008.

Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have The 39 Steps, a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre! Over 150 zany characters (played by a cast of 4), an on-stage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers and some good old-fashioned romance!

In The 39 Steps, a man with a boring life meets a woman with a thick accent who says she's a spy. When he takes her home, she is murdered. Soon, a mysterious organization called "The 39 Steps" is hot on the man's trail in a nationwide manhunt that climaxes in a death-defying finale! A riotous blend of virtuoso performances and wildly inventive stagecraft,The 39 Steps amounts to an unforgettable evening of pure pleasure!
Adapted by Patrick Barlow from the novel by John Buchan from the movie of Alfred Hitchcock. Licensed by ITV Global Entertainment Limited and an original concept by Nobby Dimon and Simon Corble.

“Absurdly enjoyable! This gleefully theatrical riff on Hitchcock's film is fast and frothy, performed by a cast of four that seems like a cast of thousands."-The New York Times

"A wonderful triumph of theatre!" - BBC Radio 4

THE CRUCIBLE
By Arthur Miller

April 27 - May 7

Winner of the 1953 Tony Award for Best Play. Inspired by the events of the era of McCarthyism, playwright Arthur Miller explores the mass political and cultural hysteria created by the U.S. Government’s attempts to suppress Communism and the radical leftist activity in America.

Using the avenue of the Salem Witch Trials, Miller’s story focuses upon a young farmer, his wife, and a young servant-girl who maliciously causes the wife's arrest for witchcraft.

This exciting drama about the Puritan purge of witchcraft in old Salem is both a gripping historical play and a timely parable of our contemporary society. A powerful drama." - NY Times

PETER PAN
By J. M. Barrie
July 20 - 30

Peter Pan is the story of three siblings who follow Peter Pan and the fairy Tinker Bell into Neverland, where children never grow old. Captain Hook and his pirates, Tiger Lily and her tribe, mermaids, and a dozen other adventures await the children in this timeless tale of eternal youth.

After multiple years of successful Playhouse Troupe productions each summer, we graduate our young actors to our main season in this delightful new imagining of a familiar classic.

AND THEN THERE WERE NONE
By Agatha Christie

October 12 - 22

Ten guilty strangers are trapped on an island. One by one they are accused of murder; one by one they start to die. In this superlative mystery/comedy, statuettes of little soldier boys on the mantel of a house on an island off the coast of Devon fall to the floor and break one by one as those in the house succumb to a diabolical avenger. A nursery rhyme tells how each of the ten “soldiers” met his death until there were none. Eight strangers who have never met each other or their mysteriously absent hosts are lured to the island and, along with the two house servants, marooned.
An unseen voice accuses each guest of having gotten away with murder and then one drops dead - poisoned. One down and nine to go!
"There's a strong element of magic to [Christie's] brilliance that defies analysis." - The Guardian

LITTLE WOMEN
adapted by Sarah Thornton from the novel by Louisa M. Alcott

November 30 – December 10
Based on Louisa May Alcott's early life, Little Women follows the adventures of sisters Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy March, detailing their passage from childhood to womanhood and their experience growing up in Civil War America. In a new “trunk show” adaptation, this production brings a fresh take to a familiar and heart-warming story just in time for the holidays.
Little Women [is] wonderful; despite being written almost 150 years ago, it still remains incredibly relevant.”
