Alpha Phi Alpha Foundation invites your institution to participate in our 38th annual 2017 Rudolph Gordon College Fair to be held in Greenville, South Carolina on February 4, 2017.
THIS RVSP Page is only for COLLEGE RECRCUITERS
The College fair is a part of a larger event, our Martin Luther King, Jr. Youth Award Program, where we are honoring high achieving high school students in Greenville County in five categories: Academics, Athletics, Art, Leadership, and Music. Sophomore, junior, and senior students are eligible for the awards, and all are strongly encouraged to attend the award program and fair. The main award program will last from 9 am until Noon and the fair will be available to students during the program and until 1 PM. Light refreshments will be provided at 9 AM and Noon as part of the program. We have a unique effort in that we ask high school Counselors to select college-worthy students who need encouragement to pursue a college career. We have consistently had from 200 to 300 students receive awards with about 300 students and their families who actually attend our award program and fair. This year we expect to exceed those numbers. Greenville County includes 15 high schools with more 20,000 students and Furman University is again our sponsor for this year’s event.
We are asking you or representative to participate in the First Year of College seminar we have our winners from 9:10 AM to 10:20 AM. This seminar allows our student winners to hear directly from you and other college students about their experiences in their first year in college. We are also conducting a seminar for parents on Financial Aid concurrently to the previously mentioned seminar.
We would like you and your institution to be represented at our event. If you can attend, please send scan of the form or a reply to my email address (firstname.lastname@example.org) as long as it includes all the information on the confirmation form by February 4, 2017. Once I receive your confirmation, I will forward directions and other details about the event to you by email. We also have on-line registration for the event at http://mlkfair2017.eventbrite.com
