2017 Prince William County Omega Idol
The PLL Chapter of Omega Psi Phi in association with the George M. Hampton Foundation will host its Annual Talent Hunt competition on Saturday, February 25th, 2017, at 4:00 P.M. at Woodbridge Senior High School in the Auditorium. Donations or entry fee is $5.00. Prince William County area high school students will perform in the areas of vocal & instrumental music (classical, semi-classical, gospel and jazz), interpretive movement to music (ballet, modern dance and tap), and Speech (poetry, orations, and monologues).
The need for such a program was born out of the limited opportunities afforded to some American youth to develop and give full expression of their talents. This program provides exposure, encouragement and financial assistance to talented young high school students. Presently, the Local and District (Washington DC & Virginia) Talent programs are competitive, whereas the National Program is a demonstration of first place winners from across the nation.
The original statement of the Talent Hunt idea included this expression: "Creative and outstanding capacities in any honorable activity should be eligible for consideration." As a matter or convenience in presenting a public program, the public displays were limited to the field of music. Since that time the Talent Hunt Program has been expanded to include all of the arts.
Registration for this event is open to high school students within Prince William County and Stafford County, Virginia for $10. Once the fee is paid, please submit audition videos online to the Pi Lamba Lambda (PLL) Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/PiLambdaLambdaOfOmegaPsiPhi/) through messenger (private message) or mail audition video (90 second limit) to the Pi Lambda Lambda Chapter Talent Hunt Committee through postal mail: Pi Lambda Lambda Chapter, P.O Box 663, Dumfries, VA, 22026-0663. Ensure applications are received no later than October 31, 2016. * Applicants using the online option will incur a small convenience processing fee.
The event fact sheet, application, and release form are available below. Again, applications can be submitted through Facebook Messenger once completed or mailed in.
General entry or donations again, are $5. Payment can be made online or at the door. Students participating in the event will also be selling tickets for $5.
