Purpose: This program is designed as an update on important ambulatory care topics as identified by past participants and faculty.

Objectives:

•Describe the prevalence, etiology and current management of obesity in adults
•Develop a systematic approach to the evaluation and management of fever without a source in the infant
and young child
•Describe the pathophysiology of diabetes mellitus type 2, management and recommendations on new treatment guidelines
•Evaluate the types and stages of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and the implications
for diagnosis, treatment and outcome for the patient with COPD
•Identify the common challenges in the care of patients diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and describe treatment and management options
•Examine new evidence in the causes of epilepsy, management strategies and optimizing existing treatments
•Discuss the etiology of abnormal uterine bleeding as it relates to the patient’s reproductive age, the diagnostic approach and treatment and management options
•Recognize common rashes in children and describe management strategies
•Discuss symptoms, co-existing conditions and possible causes of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children and new avenues of research to further improve ADHD diagnosis and treatment in the primary care setting
