The Growing Need for Mass Notification
Presented By: Russ Cooper, Spectra Source
This course will explain the importance of Mass Notification and how these systems alert and provide us with critical information and directions to follow during dangerous weather, acts of terror or other hazardous events.
1. Define what Mass Notification is, who it affects, who it protects and how it is being monitored.
2. Discuss the two critical factors in developing a Mass Notification system: Reach and Clarity.
3. Outline the need for visual cues such as strobes, digital signage, email notifications, text messaging and message board displays.
4. Explain the importance of audio notification and why it must provide information that is successfully delivered throughout the indoor and outdoor space.
5. Review accepted industry standards, measurements and practices established by NFPA 72.
