August 4, 5 and 6 (9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily)
Explore the fundamentals of painting from nature with Steve Gerhartz (www.stevegerhartz.com). Nature is one of the most inspiring subjects for artists. In this class nature will be used as your guide as you explore how patterns, textures, and colors can be translated and expressed with brush, canvas, and paint. Special emphasis will be aimed at capturing the light quality of the day as students learn through demonstration and individual instruction. Steve will demonstrate using oils, but you may use acrylics, watercolors, or pastels as well - artist’s choice.
Steve attended the Lyme Academy in Old Lyme, Connecticut and received the John Stobart Outdoor Painting Fellowship following his training at the Academy. His inspiration comes from the beautiful light quality of the different times of day and the changing seasons. Steve is represented by galleries in Door County, Michigan and Milwaukee among others.
