Event Details

Dear Masters/ Instructors,

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all continued success throughout the year.It is with great honor and excitement that I extend to you an invitation to participate in the upcoming New York Open Taekwondo Championships/Korean Cultural Festival to be held at Globall Sports Centers at Mitchel Athletic Complex (1 Charles Lindbergh Blvd, Garden City, NY 11530) on Saturday, Oct. 21st, 2017.  Thank you to all who participated last year as we were able to raise over $4,000, which we donated to The Nassau County PBA Widows’ & Orphans Fund. This year and every year we look to donate proceeds from our event to a worthy charity with the help of the Nassau County Government.

Our goal for the 2017 New York Open TaeKwonDo Championships is to uphold a level of expertise as an Olympic sport and promote the beautiful Korean Cultural that we all share. NEW to this year’s event will be a SPORT POOMSAE DIVISION for high-level competitors and KP&P ELECTRONIC SCORING for Black Belt competitors 15 yrs old & up!As the only Festival without any political, commercial, or profit based agenda (it is a non-profit event), we pride ourselves on using TaeKwonDo as a tool to bring together and embrace the different cultures of the world, regardless of race and creed, hence our philosophy: “TaeKwonDo, One Family One Vision.” Moreover, The New York Open has been declared “Taekwondo Day” by The Nassau County Government to show support and increase Taekwondo awareness in the nation.

As always there will be beautiful Korean Cultural performances and a tasting of Korean food. We are honored to serve you and hope to ensure that each individual has his or her best tournament experience of the year. In addition, The New York Open Organizing Committee will be selecting 10 Master/Instructors to receive a citation from the Nassau County Government for their outstanding contributions to our event.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible. It is always a privilege and honor to have competitors come together and compete in the highest traditions of our sport and Korean culture. Again, your participation and support is invaluable to the success, growth, and recognition of TaeKwonDo. I commend everyone for their courage to compete and the desire to excel!

Sincerely,

Y.H. Park
