Preaching Through the Lectionary (Rev. Dr. Kenneth Q. James)
The Lectionary is a predetermined cycle of Scripture readings that are designed to take an individual or congregation through the majority of the Bible in a selected period of time. With the varied styles of preaching, how can the preacher use the lectionary with integrity to help craft and guide their sermon preparation to be a blessing to the congregation, and to hear God speak through the predetermined Scripture.
Physician Heal Yourself (Rev. Dr. Shelly D. Best)
The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few. Each year qualified ministers are leaving the pulpit through burnout; integrity controversies, despair, or even death. This “inspirational experiential” session is designed to provide practical tools for clergy to care for themselves as they care for the flock.
Maximizing Millennials in our Churches (Rev. Zaniel Young)
In order to engage our Generation Xers and our Millennials out of the box thinking is going to be required. New ideas will have to emerge to bring those groups into our Churches. This session will provide new ministry ideas that maintain faith integrity.
Fishes & Loaves (Rev. Moses Harvill)
Church leaders know all too well the challenges of making due with what we receive in the offerings each week. This session looks at budget, book keeping, cash flow strategies, and checks and balances as people of faith manage Kingdom resources.
Christian Education In the 21st Century (Dr. Brenda Smith)
Taking a look at the world that we live in we will discover quickly that it is changing. The things that challenge our children, youth, young adults, and adults are rapidly evolving, and the Church needs to be on the cutting edge of how to continue to engage our members in a positive way. This session will help explore new paradigms in providing Christian Education in the future.
Women of Faith (Rev. Melanie Miller)
“Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things that not seen.” It is that faith that has lead and guided women of faith from Biblical times until present day. This session will explore opportunities for woman to walk in their faith through storms, trials, test, and tribulations, by looking at women of faith in Scripture who perservered through integrity
Men of Faith (Rev. Kenneth I. Lewis)
It seems as though the male population in our Churches are decreasing, and that men in our society as a whole are wavering in standing up and being who God has called them to be. This workshop will give tools to help build men of faith with integrity in our congregations.
Singing Songs of Zion (Rev. Monica Marshall & Mrs. G. Ingrid Faniel)
Kingdom worship that honors God must be dynamic, authentic, intelligent, and most of all, life-changing. Participants in this workshop will be immersed in the fundamentals of worship and experience the fresh wind of praise and adoration. This will be an intense and intimate encounter with God through music and liturgy providing key insights that will serve to inspire all who share in the marvelous and mysterious act of worship.
Missionaries: Don’t Miss the Mission! (Missionary Supervisor D. Diane Proctor)
What does it mean to be a missionary? Is mission work a duty or a calling? does mission work have any impact or is it unnecessary? Is this just another department of the church or is it more than that? This workshop will look at the many ways the Women’s Home and Overseas Missionary Society remains relevant in our ever-changing world, and continues to be a beacon of light within and outside our denomination.
