Description

Learn how to use the 2017 National Electrical Code (NEC) when working with solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. By taking this course, you will learn how to properly, design, install, and maintain utility-interactive solar PV systems. Information covered in the training is primarily found in ARTICLES 690 & 705 of the 2017 NEC. Topics to be covered include AC & DC electricity, circuit types, definitions, use of proper equipment (solar modules, combiner boxes, & inverters), installation requirements, system protection (ground-fault, arc-fault, & rapid shutdown), calculation of maximum voltage & circuit currents, OCPD sizing, voltage drop, wire sizing, adjustment & correction factors, disconnect requirements, wiring methods, grounding & bonding, equipment marking, system signage, connection locations, 120% & 125% rules, working spaces, rooftop access & pathway requirements, and personal safety.


Attendance - This is a two-day event with new information being provided each day. Attendees can choose to either attend a single day or both days.depending on their continuing education (CE) requirements.


DOPL - Both the in-person and webinar options have been approved by Utah's Department of Occupational & Professional Licensing (DOPL) for 6.0 Contractor Core Hours & 8.0 Electrician Core Hours (Each Day). Visit the DOPL website to learn more. Contractors are required to receive 6.0 Hours of continuing education every two years and Electricians are required to receive 16.0 Hours of continuing education every two years.
